Construct allium inspired garden stakes

The showy flowers of allium bloom in early summer and carry a sweet, pungent scent.  If you garden outside of USDA Zones 4-7, or in a state that prohibits the growth of allium, you can obtain the illusion of the plant by creating spheres carrying their form.

    Found an easy way to make the ball, make a water balloon the size you want and freeze it, wrap add stick and let the balloon melt pop and remove the balloon!

    Beautiful!!! Alliums are one of my favorite but so darn expensive. This is a great way to get a blanketed look. Rita

    I've seen the above photos on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. Mine turned out nice but I see that it is impossible to make them as neat as shown. I've never seen chicken wire as small as what is shown or as plyable, so I've decided it is not actually wire but some type of nylon mesh, dipped in liquid starch and draped over a balloon. then the balloon is popped when the mesh has hardened. But the wire comes out pretty nicely and should hold up better outside in the weather.
    That's my take on it, has anyone else been able to make them that neatly?
